Stella Borunda, owner of the City Market in San Miguel, N.M. The "City Market" is really more of a small, country grocery store, the kind I remember going to when I was a kid in rural eastern New Mexico. Stella's father opened this store in 1925. (2012)

I don't have a studio and prefer to shoot on location. Finding places to shoot is half the fun. These were taken in a concrete drainage tunnel under Interstate 25. I wanted to try some creative poses featuring hands and shadows on the face using natural light, and Evangeline was kind enough to pose for me. (2012)
